There are a few places to stop and sit atop a rocky outcrop for a picnic. It provides a good view of the valley below and when the weather is clear, you can see several surrounding mountains. There is a lot of grass or rhododendron bushes and some blackberry vines, so a variety of plant life, but very little animal life. We saw two birds on the entire hike and no insects, reptile or mammals. It is a bit different from straight up and down mountain climbs and kind of fun going from open meadowland into a deep dark forested area and back out in the open again. Moderate trail with good views.
